About Pin Save the Climate

Pin Save the Climate was started by two friends with a shared passion for climate justice. By day we’re artists, educators, and parents; by night, we design pins and stickers and donate all of the profits to organizations that are best equipped to effect change.

We believe that the climate crisis is the defining issue of our time and that it should be on the front page of every news publication and at the top of every political debate. In order to transition to a sustainable climate future, we need a groundswell of political pressure to convince politicians that the time is NOW to enact sweeping legislative changes at local, state, national, and international levels. Join us in making sure that everyone is engaged in these conversations and is working to build public support and political will for the big solutions needed to address climate justice.

It's abundantly clear that everyone will be impact by climate breakdown, not just polar bears and those living in coastal cities. However, marginalized and underrepresented communities are already being disproportionately impacted by the climate crisis and it is our collective responsibility to ensure that these communities are supported through a just transition to a sustainable climate future.

Thank you for supporting us in this mission,

-Ryan Thompson & Charlie Roderick

Can pins really save the climate?

Nope. We need a groundswell of political pressure enacted through individuals who are willing to organize, protest, strike, and vote. This political pressure becomes the means by which systemic and legislative change happens. Pins and stickers are a great way to show your support, to keep the dialogue moving forward, and to raise money for climate justice organizations, but they are not a substitute for direct action. We encourage you to get involved with local chapters of climate justice organizations.

Why don't you support [blank] organization?

We've started with a small group of organizations and we hope to expand the list as we grow. If you have a suggestion for a climate justice organization that is doing the kind of work we should be supporting here at Pin Save the Climate, please send us a note with a link to their website and why you feel strongly about the work they are doing. We are especially interested in grassroots organizations that are addressing climate injustice in communities that are disproportionally affected by climate change. We look forward to hearing from you!

Does my favorite [politician/activist/climate advocate] know about this project yet?

Maybe, but not likely. They're busy legislating, advocating, and educating, but we would love to send them a pin to thank them for the critical work they are doing to advance climate justice for all.

What about the environmental impact of producing and shipping pins?

We believe that conscientious consumption should play a critical role in helping mitigate the effects of climate change, so in addition to donating all of our profits to the incredible climate justice organizations listed here, we also offset our production and shipping with carbon offsets through Native Energy. To learn more about the projects that NativeEnergy is working on, check out their website.

If you would prefer to donate directly to a climate justice organization without purchasing a pin, please do! We’d love to know what organization you donated to and why. Get in touch, and thanks for supporting climate justice!

What can I do to help promote Pin Save the Climate?

Pictures of pins and stickers ‘in the wild’ posted to your favorite social network would be especially helpful, but any kind of sharing of the project (online or off) is appreciated! The more word of mouth advertising we can do, the more money we can send to climate justice organizations like Indigenous Environmental Network, Sunrise Movement, and Zero Hour.

If you have other ideas for collaboration, we're all ears.
